Distribution Center Lighting

Distribution center LED lighting services in New Jersey

A distribution center moves goods through receiving, storage, picking, packing and shipping. Sunshine Lighting Group helps New Jersey operators review lighting across those zones, discuss LED fixtures and controls, and plan a proposed upgrade around the building’s activity and utility-incentive requirements.

Assess lighting along the flow of goods

Identify the areas included in the project and explain how employees and equipment move through them. Record changes in racking, operating hours and activity levels that affect the lighting review.

Operating zoneDetails to include in the walkthrough
Picking aislesRack positions, aisle layout, mounting heights and the locations of existing fixtures.
Packing stationsWork surfaces, task locations, occupancy and the relationship to nearby aisles.
Receiving and loading docksDoor positions, loading schedules, daylight and access to overhead fixtures.
Staging and storageChanging inventory layouts, obstructions and areas used intermittently.

Review fixture layout and controls together

Share the normal picking patterns, forklift routes and dock schedules. An assessment should consider where fixtures are mounted, what lies below them and how each zone is used throughout a shift.

Explain which areas remain active and which have periods of low occupancy. Include existing sensors, switches and control zones in the review. Changes to controls should fit the operating requirements of each area rather than treating the entire building as one space.

Coordinate the proposed work with shipping operations

Describe delivery windows, outbound shipping periods and any restrictions on access to aisles or fixtures. Identify the site contact responsible for coordinating access and the areas that require separate scheduling.

The proposed installation scope should make clear which zones are included and how access and sequencing will be discussed. If the layout is changing, share the planned arrangement before the fixture layout is finalized.

Prepare the information for your assessment

  • Identify the building address, utility provider and account associated with the site.
  • Share floor plans or notes showing aisles, racking, docks and packing areas.
  • Record fixture types, approximate quantities and operating hours when known.
  • Describe changes planned for storage, inventory or the shipping workflow.
  • Identify approval contacts, leased areas and site-access requirements.

Use our commercial lighting assessment checklist to organize these details. Our warehouse and distribution industry overview explains the related building types we assess.

Distribution center lighting questions

Do I need a complete fixture count before contacting you?

Share the information you have, including approximate quantities or photographs when available. Missing details can be identified for the site walkthrough before a final scope is proposed.

Can interior areas and loading docks be discussed together?

List both in the assessment request and identify the existing fixtures in each area. Equipment selection, installation access and incentive eligibility need to be reviewed for the proposed scope.

What if our racking or inventory layout is changing?

Provide the planned layout as well as the current arrangement. Explain which areas will move and when, so the lighting proposal can be considered alongside those changes.

Utility incentives and project costs

New Jersey utility incentive programs may help eligible commercial customers reduce the cost of qualifying LED lighting improvements. Eligibility, available incentives and the final project cost depend on the utility, current program rules, existing equipment and the proposed scope. A no-cost upgrade is available only when the project qualifies; it is not guaranteed for every building.

Compare the program routes in our New Jersey commercial LED lighting incentive guide. Review the proposed scope, expected incentive, project cost and any customer contribution before work is approved.
